The company considers games that allow players to buy in-game items, such as virtual clothes for characters or weapons, to be authorized games
Google has updated its policy on cryptocurrencies and related products to allow advertising of blockchain-based games using non-fungible tokens (NFTs) starting September 15, 2023.
The company lists games that allow players to purchase in-game items, such as virtual character clothing or weapons, as permitted. As before, advertising for games in which players place bets, including NFTs, in exchange for the possibility of any winnings with real-world value, such as other tokens, is prohibited.
“Beginning September 15, 2023, advertisers that offer games using NFT but do not advertise gambling-related content may advertise these products and services, provided they are compliant,” the company said in a statement.
The company also banned the promotion through advertising of casinos where rewards are issued in NFT and sites where real-money gambling is conducted, the company said.
In July, Google allowed the sale of non-mutualizable tokens NFT in applications Play Store. It was noted that applications based on blockchain or NFT will be subject to the same rules as applications from projects in the gaming sphere.
